Sherrills Ford is a small, up-and-coming community located on the northwest side of Lake Noman. It received its name due it being the site of the fording of the Catawba River from east to west by Adam Sherrill in 1747. It is surrounded by water and is made up of many great lakefront roads and developments that are all serviced by some of the best schools in the area.
Denver, formerly known as Dry Pond, is a census-designated place and unincorporated community located in Lincoln County, North Carolina. It is situated on North Carolina State Highway 16 on the west shore of Lake Norman on the Catawba River. It is about 25 miles north of downtown Charlotte and just south of the Catawba County boundary. Great schools, water access and its proximity to Charlotte are just a few of the reasons Denver is becoming the place to live in the Lake Norman region.
Catawba is a small town located on the northernmost west side of Lake Norman. It is part of the Hickory–Lenoir–Morganton Metropolitan Statistical Area, and as with the county, the name recalls the Catawba people, the indigenous people who once inhabited the area. A rural area with great lakefront communities, open land and great accessibility to Statesville, Hickory, & Mooresville, Catawba is perfect for those who enjoy the country life but want to be close to it all.
The community center lies at the intersection of North Carolina Highway 150 and Sherrills Ford Road. Neighboring communities include Sherrills Ford to the north, Mooresville to the east and Denver to the southwest. Terrell is a Lake Norman community with many lake-centric activities and businesses.
Mooresville is a town in southern Iredell County and is located on the eastern shore of Lake Norman. It is located approximately 25 miles north of Charlotte and is best known as the home of many NASCAR and IndyCar racing teams and drivers. It has a robust economy in large part based around Lake Norman and being home to many racing technology suppliers. This fact has earned the city the nickname “Race City USA.” Also located in Mooresville is the corporate headquarters of Lowe’s Companies, Inc. and Universal Technical Institute’s NASCAR Technical Institute.
Statesville is a small city located in Iredell County, North Carolina and was named an All-America City in 1997 and 2009. The population was 24,633 and is the county seat of Iredell County. It is located at the intersection of I-40 and I-77, which gives it a strategical advantage for many businesses and residents who are looking for easy access to Charlotte and Atlanta to the south and the Raleigh / Durham area to the east.
In the 1850s, under a huge hickory tree, Henry Robinson built a tavern of logs. The city of “Hickory Tavern” was established in 1863, and the name was eventually changed to the city of Hickory. Hickory is now a bustling town located on Interstate 40 in the foothills of Catawba County. World-class golf, access to several lakes and its proximity to the North Carolina Mountains and to Charlotte make it an ideal location to live and work.
